As part of its “Campaign of Learning” and in conjunction with National Maritime Day 2022, the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) hosted a panel on the challenges of decarbonizing the U.S. maritime industry and identifying how the public and private sector can better collaborate across the multiple components of the sector to achieve decarbonization goals. The event, hosted by then-Acting Administrator Lucinda Lessley, and moderated by Michael Carter, Associate Administrator, Office of Environment and Compliance, featured Aspen Shipping Decarbonization Initiative Director Ingrid Irigoyen alongside, Kathy Metcalf from Chamber of Shipping of America, Andrew Wishnia from the Department of Transportation's Office of the Secretary of Transportation, and Ian Gansler from American Association of Port Authorities.
