In a blog post published today, the Aspen Shipping Decarbonization Initiative provides an overview of the European Union's ‘Fit For 55’ proposal, a package of 14 legislative proposals aimed to help the EU deliver on its ambition to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels by the year 2030.

The blog provides an overview of the five proposals which include maritime shipping - an EU climate legislation first - and focuses in particular on the ways in which the FuelEU Maritime Proposal could be altered to accelerate shipping decarbonization and provide incentives for the deployment and rapid scaling of e-fuels. coZEV 2040 signatories IKEA, Tchibo, and Unilever are quoted in the blog.
